Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2021 Phillips in New York held the auction New Now, which included the work New Age Demanded (Cyberswirl Chrome) by Jon Rafman. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 20,160.00 (€ 17,167.67) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jon Rafman - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work New Age Demanded (Swerveman Silver), which sold at auction in February 2018 for USD 50,000.00 (€ 40,946.69).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im März 2021 führte Phillips in New York die Auktion New Now durch, in der auch die Arbeit New Age Demanded (Cyberswirl Chrome) von Jon Rafman zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 20.160,00 (€ 17.167,67) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Jon Rafman mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit New Age Demanded (Swerveman Silver) beobachtet, die im Februar 2018 für USD 50.000,00 (€ 40.946,69) versteigert wurde.
