Auction result well in line with expectations
The work An Italianate landscape by John Wootton was sold in the Old Master Paintings & Sculpture Online auction at Christies in London in July last year. The price achieved of GBP 12,600.00 (€ 15,046.64) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Wootton achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Hunting Party; Possibly Depicting Charles Spencer, 3Rd Duke Of Marlborough (1706-1758) And His Wife Elizabeth, Countess Of Marlborough (D.1761) in July 2012 with an auction result of GBP 577,250.00 (€ 735,261.35).
