Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
When the work Louis Emanuelli, General Manager and Director 1963-1992 (i); Louis Emanuelli, study for 'The Founder Members of Annabel's' (ii); Mabel James (iii) by John Stanton Ward was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2018, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - GBP 1,200.00 but the actual price achieved was more than four times as high at GBP 5,625.00 (€ 6,344.83). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Stanton Ward - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Annabel's, Study for The Founder Members, which sold at auction in November 2018 for GBP 13,125.00 (€ 14,804.60).

Als die Arbeit Louis Emanuelli, General Manager and Director 1963-1992 (i); Louis Emanuelli, study for 'The Founder Members of Annabel's' (ii); Mabel James (iii) von John Stanton Ward im November 2018 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – GBP 1.200,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit GBP 5.625,00 (€ 6.344,83) mehr als viermal so hoch. Für andere Arbeiten von John Stanton Ward mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Annabel's, Study for The Founder Members beobachtet, die im November 2018 für GBP 13.125,00 (€ 14.804,60) versteigert wurde.
