Auction result well in line with expectations
In July last year Bonhams in London held the auction Old Master Paintings, which included the work Portrait of Colonel Thornton with a hawk by John Russell. The price achieved of GBP 12,750.00 (€ 15,225.76) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Russell - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait De Lady Georgiana Cavendish (1783-1858), Future Comtesse De Carlisle, À L'Âge De 6 Ans, which sold at auction in November 2020 for EUR 45,500.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli letzten Jahres führte Bonhams in London die Auktion Old Master Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of Colonel Thornton with a hawk von John Russell zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 12.750,00 (€ 15.225,76) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von John Russell mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Portrait De Lady Georgiana Cavendish (1783-1858), Future Comtesse De Carlisle, À L'Âge De 6 Ans beobachtet, die im November 2020 für EUR 45.500,00 versteigert wurde.
