Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of a Richard Brinsley Sheridan (1751-1816), in a blue coat, with white frills by John Russell was auctioned at Christies in London in July last year. The price achieved of GBP 8,820.00 (€ 10,532.65) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 7,000.00 – 10,000.00. Admittedly, works by John Russell have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait De Lady Georgiana Cavendish (1783-1858), Future Comtesse De Carlisle, À L'Âge De 6 Ans in November 2020 with an auction result of EUR 45,500.00.

Die Arbeit Portrait of a Richard Brinsley Sheridan (1751-1816), in a blue coat, with white frills von John Russell kam im Juli letzten Jahres bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 8.820,00 (€ 10.532,65) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 7.000,00 – 10.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Russell auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Portrait De Lady Georgiana Cavendish (1783-1858), Future Comtesse De Carlisle, À L'Âge De 6 Ans im November 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 45.500,00.
