Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2021 Sothebys in London held the auction Town & Country: A Private Collection, which included the work Portrait of Mrs John Gibson, née Elizabeth Pars (1769-1834) by John Russell. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,276.00 (€ 3,907.58) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Russell achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait De Lady Georgiana Cavendish (1783-1858), Future Comtesse De Carlisle, À L'Âge De 6 Ans in November 2020 with an auction result of EUR 45,500.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2021 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Town & Country: A Private Collection durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of Mrs John Gibson, née Elizabeth Pars (1769-1834) von John Russell zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 3.276,00 (€ 3.907,58) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Russell erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait De Lady Georgiana Cavendish (1783-1858), Future Comtesse De Carlisle, À L'Âge De 6 Ans im November 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 45.500,00.
