This price was achieved in the auction Old Master Day Sale including Old Master Paintings, Drawings and British Works on Paper at Sothebys in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 3,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by John Russell; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Portrait De Lady Georgiana Cavendish (1783-1858), Future Comtesse De Carlisle, À L'Âge De 6 Ans sold at auction in November 2020 with the realized price of EUR 45,500.00.
