Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of Major Edward Topham (1751-1820), half-length in a blue coat, holding a quill by John Russell was auctioned at Christies in London in July this year. The price achieved of GBP 11,340.00 (€ 13,230.34) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Russell - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait De Lady Georgiana Cavendish (1783-1858), Future Comtesse De Carlisle, À L'Âge De 6 Ans, which sold at auction in November 2020 for EUR 45,500.00.

Die Arbeit Portrait of Major Edward Topham (1751-1820), half-length in a blue coat, holding a quill von John Russell kam im Juli diesen Jahres bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 11.340,00 (€ 13.230,34) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von John Russell mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Portrait De Lady Georgiana Cavendish (1783-1858), Future Comtesse De Carlisle, À L'Âge De 6 Ans beobachtet, die im November 2020 für EUR 45.500,00 versteigert wurde.
