Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Olive trees and distant hills, possibly near Florence by John Ruskin was sold in the Old Master Drawings and British Drawings and Watercolours auction at Christies in London in December 2016. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,500.00 (€ 4,092.07) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Ruskin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Bellinzona, Switzerland, looking north towards the St. Gotthard pass in November 2003 with an auction result of GBP 274,050.00 (€ 393,402.83).

Die Arbeit Olive trees and distant hills, possibly near Florence von John Ruskin wurde im Dezember 2016 in der Auktion Old Master Drawings and British Drawings and Watercolours bei Christies in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 3.500,00 (€ 4.092,07) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
