Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Australian Whiskered Man by John Perceval was sold in the Important Australian Art auction at Sothebys in Melbourne in August 2009. The price achieved of AUD 9,600.00 (€ 5,644.03) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as AUD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Perceval achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Australian Ship'S Graveyard in November 2007 with an auction result of AUD 468,000.00 (€ 281,921.57).

Die Arbeit Australian Whiskered Man von John Perceval wurde im August 2009 in der Auktion Important Australian Art bei Sothebys in Melbourne versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von AUD 9.600,00 (€ 5.644,03) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit AUD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Perceval erzielen.
