Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Unknown by John Miers was sold in the At Home - Portrait Miniatures, Objects of Vertu, Irish, auction at Christies in London in October 2003. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 200.00 – 300.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 211.50 (€ 308.91) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Miers - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Two Regency Portrait Silhouettes, which sold at auction in December 2003 for AUD 1,997.50 (€ 1,192.44).
