Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2004 Christies in London held the auction At Home - Portrait Miniatures, Objects of Vertu and Silver, which included the work A lady, in profile to left, in frilled dress, her hair upswept in ringlets by John Miers. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 200.00 – 300.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 215.10 (€ 321.99) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Miers - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Two Regency Portrait Silhouettes, which sold at auction in December 2003 for AUD 1,997.50 (€ 1,192.44).
