Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2006 Christies in London held the auction Portrait Miniatures, Objects of Vertu, Silver and Plate and Icons, which included the work Unknown by John Miers. The price achieved of GBP 360.00 (€ 531.08) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 300.00 – 400.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Miers - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Two Regency Portrait Silhouettes, which sold at auction in December 2003 for AUD 1,997.50 (€ 1,192.44).
