Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work A gentleman and a lady: he, in profile to right, in a coat and wearing a wig; she, in profile to left, in a fichu and a bonnet with a bow by John Miers was sold in the At Home - Portrait Miniatures, Objects of Vertu and Silver auction at Christies in London in March 2004. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 350.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 382.40 (€ 572.42). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Miers - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Two Regency Portrait Silhouettes, which sold at auction in December 2003 for AUD 1,997.50 (€ 1,192.44).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen

Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 350,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 382,40 (€ 572,42) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von John Miers mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Two Regency Portrait Silhouettes beobachtet, die im Dezember 2003 für AUD 1.997,50 (€ 1.192,44) versteigert wurde.
