Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A gentleman believed to be Sir John Mosley, Bt., in profile to left, in coat, frilled cravat, wearing a tricorn, his hair en queue; and a gentleman, in profile to right, in coat and frilled cravat, his hair en queue; and a lady, in profile to left, wearin by John Miers was sold in the OBJECTS OF VERTU & MINIATURES auction at Christies in London in July 2001. The price achieved of GBP 352.50 (€ 574.02) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 300.00 – 500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Miers - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Two Regency Portrait Silhouettes, which sold at auction in December 2003 for AUD 1,997.50 (€ 1,192.44).
