In May 2000 Christies in London held the auction Maritime, which included the work Lord Belfast's yachts Emily and Waterwich in the Straits of Gibraltar by John Lynn. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 23,500.00 (€ 37,708.83), 18% above the upper estimate. Other works by John Lynn have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of GBP 28,200.00 (€ 45,250.60) in May 2000 for the work Lord Belfast's yacht Emily off the Mediterranean coast with a xebec off her port bow.
