Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Belfast at Sunset by John Luke was auctioned at Christies in London in May 2002. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 6,462.50 (€ 10,120.36) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Luke achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Pax in September 2018 with an auction result of GBP 225,000.00 (€ 252,703.92).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Belfast at Sunset von John Luke kam im Mai 2002 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 6.462,50 (€ 10.120,36) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Luke erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Pax im September 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 225.000,00 (€ 252.703,92).
