Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In May 2014 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Art, which included the work Hollyhocks by John La Farge. The »bidding war« ended at USD 149,000.00 (€ 109,237.54), 24% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John La Farge achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Last Valley--Paradise Rocks in November 2000 with an auction result of USD 2,096,000.00 (€ 2,410,858.06).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Mai 2014 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion American Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Hollyhocks von John La Farge zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 149.000,00 (€ 109.237,54) und damit 24% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John La Farge erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Last Valley--Paradise Rocks im November 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.096.000,00 (€ 2.410.858,06).
