In May 2000 Christies in London held the auction Irish Pictures, which included the work A wooded river landscape with a ferry in the foreground and a village beyond by John Henry Campbell. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,585.00 (€ 4,147.97), 72% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by John Henry Campbell have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work An extensive wooded landscape, Co. Wicklow. in May 2001 with an auction result of GBP 11,750.00 (€ 19,699.14).
