Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by John Henry Campbell could be acquired at Christies in London in May 2001 for an unexpectedly low price. In the THE IRISH SALE auction, the work View on the road near Rostrevor, Co. Down; and View on Lough Erne, Co. Fermanagh changed hands for GBP 1,410.00 (€ 2,363.90) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,500.00. Admittedly, works by John Henry Campbell have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work An extensive wooded landscape, Co. Wicklow. in May 2001 with an auction result of GBP 11,750.00 (€ 19,699.14).
