Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A view of Ringsend from Merrion Square, Dublin by John Henry Campbell was sold in the THE IRISH SALE auction at Christies in London in May 2004. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,553.50 (€ 2,330.82) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by John Henry Campbell have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work An extensive wooded landscape, Co. Wicklow. in May 2001 with an auction result of GBP 11,750.00 (€ 19,699.14).
