Sold at the upper estimate price
The work Omen, 1934 by John Gutmann was auctioned at Christies in New York in December 2011. The auction ended at the price of USD 3,500.00 (€ 2,697.91), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of USD 2,500.00 – 3,500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Gutmann - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work First Drive-in Theatre, Los Angeles, 1935, which sold at auction in September 2006 for USD 8,400.00 (€ 6,620.95).
Zuschlag beim oberen Schätzpreis
Die Arbeit Omen, 1934 von John Gutmann kam im Dezember 2011 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 3.500,00 (€ 2.697,91) entsprach exakt dem oberen Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 2.500,00 – 3.500,00. Für andere Arbeiten von John Gutmann mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit First Drive-in Theatre, Los Angeles, 1935 beobachtet, die im September 2006 für USD 8.400,00 (€ 6.620,95) versteigert wurde.
