In December 2011 Christies in New York held the auction Photographs Including Crossing America: Photographs from The Consolidated Freightways Collection, Part II, which included the work Entrance, First Drive-in Theater, Los Angeles, 1935 by John Gutmann. The »bidding war« ended at USD 3,500.00 (€ 2,697.91), 40% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Gutmann - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work First Drive-in Theatre, Los Angeles, 1935, which sold at auction in September 2006 for USD 8,400.00 (€ 6,620.95).

Im Dezember 2011 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Photographs Including Crossing America: Photographs from The Consolidated Freightways Collection, Part II durch, in der auch die Arbeit Entrance, First Drive-in Theater, Los Angeles, 1935 von John Gutmann zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 3.500,00 (€ 2.697,91) und damit 40% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von John Gutmann mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit First Drive-in Theatre, Los Angeles, 1935 beobachtet, die im September 2006 für USD 8.400,00 (€ 6.620,95) versteigert wurde.
