Auction result misses estimated price range
In February 2019 a collector was able to acquire the work The Hypaethral Temple At Philae, Upper Egypt by John Frederick Lewis for GBP 9,375.00 (€ 10,936.26). This price was achieved in the auction The Fine Art Society: 142 Years on New Bond Street at Sothebys in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 12,000.00 – 18,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Frederick Lewis achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Midday Meal, Cairo in June 2005 with an auction result of GBP 2,472,000.00 (€ 3,663,660.11).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Februar 2019 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit The Hypaethral Temple At Philae, Upper Egypt von John Frederick Lewis für GBP 9.375,00 (€ 10.936,26) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion The Fine Art Society: 142 Years on New Bond Street bei Sothebys in London erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 12.000,00 – 18.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Frederick Lewis erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Midday Meal, Cairo im Juni 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 2.472.000,00 (€ 3.663.660,11).
