Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait study of an Italian peasant girl by John Frederick Lewis was sold in the The Collection of Sir Nicholas Goodison - British Art: Innovation and Craftsmanship auction at Christies in London in May last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 6,048.00 (€ 7,114.90) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Frederick Lewis achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Midday Meal, Cairo in June 2005 with an auction result of GBP 2,472,000.00 (€ 3,663,660.11).
