Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Contrabandista by John Frederick Lewis was sold in the British and European Art auction at Bonhams in March this year. The price achieved of GBP 1,275.00 (€ 1,450.56) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Frederick Lewis achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Midday Meal, Cairo in June 2005 with an auction result of GBP 2,472,000.00 (€ 3,663,660.11).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Contrabandista von John Frederick Lewis wurde im März diesen Jahres in der Auktion British and European Art bei Bonhams versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 1.275,00 (€ 1.450,56) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Frederick Lewis erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Midday Meal, Cairo im Juni 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 2.472.000,00 (€ 3.663.660,11).
