Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A road near Seville, Spain by John Frederick Lewis was auctioned at Christies in London in May last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 4,032.00 (€ 4,743.26) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Frederick Lewis achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Midday Meal, Cairo in June 2005 with an auction result of GBP 2,472,000.00 (€ 3,663,660.11).

Die Arbeit A road near Seville, Spain von John Frederick Lewis kam im Mai letzten Jahres bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 4.032,00 (€ 4.743,26) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Frederick Lewis erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Midday Meal, Cairo im Juni 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 2.472.000,00 (€ 3.663.660,11).
