Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The bombardment of Algiers, 27 August 1816 by John Christian Schetky was auctioned at Christies in London in December 2019. The price achieved of GBP 106,250.00 (€ 125,575.06) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 80,000.00 – 120,000.00. Other works by John Christian Schetky have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in October 2007 the work Lord Belfast's yacht Emily hove-to for her owner to come aboard, off the Belem Tower, at the mouth of the Tagus, Lisbon was auctioned for GBP 96,500.00 (€ 138,580.35).
