Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Sir John Bayley's cutter yacht Nymph flying the ensign of the Royal Yacht Squadron in Scottish waters by John Christian Schetky was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2010. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 22,500.00 (€ 26,887.47) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by John Christian Schetky have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Lord Belfast's yacht Emily hove-to for her owner to come aboard, off the Belem Tower, at the mouth of the Tagus, Lisbon in October 2007 with an auction result of GBP 96,500.00 (€ 138,580.35).
