Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by John Christian Schetky could be acquired at Sothebys in London in November 2008 for an unexpectedly low price. In the A GREAT BRITISH COLLECTION: The pictures collected by Sir David and Lady Scott, sold to benefit the Finnis Scott Foundation auction, the work A Naval Action Between The Austrians And The Danes, Off Heligoland, 9 May 1864 changed hands for GBP 1,250.00 (€ 1,511.34) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Christian Schetky achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Lord Belfast's yacht Emily hove-to for her owner to come aboard, off the Belem Tower, at the mouth of the Tagus, Lisbon in October 2007 with an auction result of GBP 96,500.00 (€ 138,580.35).
