Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2020 Christies in London held the auction Old Master Paintings & Sculpture Online, which included the work The 18-gun sloop HMS Stork engaging the French brig Cygne and two armed schooners anchored off the Pearl Rock, Martinique, on 12 December 1808 by John Christian Schetky. The price achieved of GBP 8,750.00 (€ 9,774.53) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 7,000.00 – 10,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Christian Schetky achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Lord Belfast's yacht Emily hove-to for her owner to come aboard, off the Belem Tower, at the mouth of the Tagus, Lisbon in October 2007 with an auction result of GBP 96,500.00 (€ 138,580.35).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2020 führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Master Paintings & Sculpture Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit The 18-gun sloop HMS Stork engaging the French brig Cygne and two armed schooners anchored off the Pearl Rock, Martinique, on 12 December 1808 von John Christian Schetky zur Versteigerung kam. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Lord Belfast's yacht Emily hove-to for her owner to come aboard, off the Belem Tower, at the mouth of the Tagus, Lisbon im Oktober 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 96.500,00 (€ 138.580,35).
