Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2016 Sothebys in London held the auction Made in Britain, which included the work Obbligato by John Cecil Stephenson. The price achieved of GBP 11,875.00 (€ 13,752.73) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Admittedly, works by John Cecil Stephenson have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Bright Triangles in November 2019 with an auction result of GBP 47,500.00 (€ 55,776.61).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im September 2016 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Made in Britain durch, in der auch die Arbeit Obbligato von John Cecil Stephenson zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 11.875,00 (€ 13.752,73) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Cecil Stephenson auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Bright Triangles im November 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 47.500,00 (€ 55.776,61).
