In January 2020 Christies in London held the auction Modern British Art Day Sale, which included the work Abstraction by John Cecil Stephenson. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 37,500.00 (€ 44,605.83), 50% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by John Cecil Stephenson; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Bright Triangles sold at auction in November 2019 with the realized price of GBP 47,500.00 (€ 55,776.61).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 50 % übertroffen
