This artwork by John Cecil Stephenson achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in November 2006. In the The Poetry of Crisis; The Peter Nahum Collection of British Surrealist and Avant-Garde Art 1930-1951 auction, the work Clarabella sold for GBP 15,600.00 (€ 23,166.49) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 7,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Cecil Stephenson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Bright Triangles, which sold at auction in November 2019 for GBP 47,500.00 (€ 55,776.61).

Dieses Kunstwerk von John Cecil Stephenson erzielte im November 2006 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion The Poetry of Crisis; The Peter Nahum Collection of British Surrealist and Avant-Garde Art 1930-1951 wurde die Arbeit Clarabella für GBP 15.600,00 (€ 23.166,49) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 7.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von John Cecil Stephenson mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Bright Triangles beobachtet, die im November 2019 für GBP 47.500,00 (€ 55.776,61) versteigert wurde.
