Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of Theodore Brett, small head and shoulders by John Brett was sold in the The Isabel Goldsmith Collection: Selected Pre-Raphaelite and Symbolist Art auction at Christies in London in July last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,024.00 (€ 3,611.19) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Brett achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Pearly Summer in February 2003 with an auction result of GBP 144,150.00 (€ 210,454.45).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Portrait of Theodore Brett, small head and shoulders von John Brett wurde im Juli letzten Jahres in der Auktion The Isabel Goldsmith Collection: Selected Pre-Raphaelite and Symbolist Art bei Christies in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 3.024,00 (€ 3.611,19) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Brett erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Pearly Summer im Februar 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 144.150,00 (€ 210.454,45).
