In July last year Sothebys in London held the auction European and British Art, Part II, which included the work The Caskets Lighthouse (Casquettes) by John Brett. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 16,380.00 (€ 19,560.63), 64% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Brett achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Pearly Summer in February 2003 with an auction result of GBP 144,150.00 (€ 210,454.45).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 64 % übertroffen
Im Juli letzten Jahres führte Sothebys in London die Auktion European and British Art, Part II durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Caskets Lighthouse (Casquettes) von John Brett zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 16.380,00 (€ 19.560,63) und damit 64% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Brett erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Pearly Summer im Februar 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 144.150,00 (€ 210.454,45).
