Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by John Brett could be acquired at Sothebys in London in July last year for an unexpectedly low price. In the European and British Art, Part II auction, the work Towan Head, Cornwall, the Wind off Shore changed hands for GBP 18,900.00 (€ 22,569.96) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Admittedly, works by John Brett have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Pearly Summer in February 2003 with an auction result of GBP 144,150.00 (€ 210,454.45).
