Auction result well in line with expectations
In July last year Sothebys in London held the auction European and British Art, Part II, which included the work View Over the Beach, St Ives by John Brett. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 6,300.00 (€ 7,523.32) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Brett achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Pearly Summer in February 2003 with an auction result of GBP 144,150.00 (€ 210,454.45).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli letzten Jahres führte Sothebys in London die Auktion European and British Art, Part II durch, in der auch die Arbeit View Over the Beach, St Ives von John Brett zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 6.300,00 (€ 7.523,32) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Brett erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Pearly Summer im Februar 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 144.150,00 (€ 210.454,45).
