Despite a disappointment, a good price for John Brett
In February 2003 a collector was able to acquire the work Pearly Summer by John Brett for GBP 144,150.00 (€ 210,454.45). This price was achieved in the auction THE FORBES COLLECTION OF VICTORIAN PICTURES AND WORKS OF ART at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 180,000.00 – 250,000.00 set by the auction house. Despite this disappointing result, Pearly Summer is the most expensive artwork by John Brett that we have observed at auction so far.
