Sold at the upper estimate price
In December 2018 Sothebys in London held the auction Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art, which included the work Cockle Fishers At Gravelines by John Brett. The auction ended at the price of GBP 10,000.00 (€ 11,140.89), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of GBP 7,000.00 – 10,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Brett achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Pearly Summer in February 2003 with an auction result of GBP 144,150.00 (€ 210,454.45).
