This artwork by John Boyd achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in November 2001. In the The Scottish Sale including pictures from the auction, the work Still Life on the Studio Chest sold for GBP 8,225.00 (€ 13,088.57) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 3,500.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by John Boyd; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Café, Fes sold at auction in November 2001 with the realized price of GBP 10,575.00 (€ 16,828.16).
