Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2010 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction Old Masters and 19th Century Art, which included the work Shipping on a calm estuary by Johannes Hermanus Koekkoek. The price achieved of EUR 22,500.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 18,000.00 – 25,000.00. Admittedly, works by Johannes Hermanus Koekkoek have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work De gestrande boot: a beached three-master with beachcombers along the shore in October 2000 with an auction result of NLG 257,444.00 (€ 123,564.63).
