Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Dutcha Merchan tman Off Veere by Johannes Hermanus Koekkoek was auctioned at Sothebys in London in December 2016. The price achieved of GBP 10,000.00 (€ 11,691.62) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Johannes Hermanus Koekkoek achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work De gestrande boot: a beached three-master with beachcombers along the shore in October 2000 with an auction result of NLG 257,444.00 (€ 123,564.63).
