Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Demetrius' Ladder; Delphic Oracle; and Proscinèmi, for Demeter, from Proscinèmi Oracles by Joe Tilson was auctioned at Phillips in London in September last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,386.00 (€ 1,577.40). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joe Tilson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Secret in June 2016 with an auction result of GBP 197,000.00 (€ 236,464.29).
