Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Jervis McEntee could be acquired at Christies in New York in May 2004 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Important American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture auction, the work October in the Catskills changed hands for USD 47,800.00 (€ 39,125.81) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 50,000.00 – 70,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jervis McEntee - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Gathering Firewood, which sold at auction in December 2002 for USD 130,500.00 (€ 124,463.52).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Jervis McEntee konnte im Mai 2004 bei Christies in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Important American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture wechselte die Arbeit October in the Catskills für USD 47.800,00 (€ 39.125,81) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 50.000,00 – 70.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Jervis McEntee mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Gathering Firewood beobachtet, die im Dezember 2002 für USD 130.500,00 (€ 124.463,52) versteigert wurde.
