This artwork by Jean-Baptiste Deshays achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in January 2004. In the Important Old Master Paintings auction, the work The blessing of a child sold for USD 5,377.50 (€ 4,318.58) - well above the upper estimate of USD 3,000.00. Admittedly, works by Jean-Baptiste Deshays have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Young Woman, Said To Be Madame Deshays, Turning Towards The Viewer And Holding A Book in February 2018 with an auction result of USD 43,750.00 (€ 35,828.35).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Jean-Baptiste Deshays erzielte im Januar 2004 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Important Old Master Paintings wurde die Arbeit The blessing of a child für USD 5.377,50 (€ 4.318,58) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 3.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jean-Baptiste Deshays auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A Young Woman, Said To Be Madame Deshays, Turning Towards The Viewer And Holding A Book im Februar 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 43.750,00 (€ 35.828,35).
