Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Young Girl Sitting On The Edge Of An Armchair, Embroidering by Jean-Antoine Watteau was sold in the Old Master & British Works on Paper auction at Sothebys in London in July 2017. The price achieved of GBP 143,750.00 (€ 160,402.93) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 120,000.00 – 180,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean-Antoine Watteau achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work La Surprise: A couple embracing while a figure dressed as Mezzetin tunes a guitar in July 2008 with an auction result of GBP 12,361,250.00 (€ 15,705,107.29).

Die Arbeit Young Girl Sitting On The Edge Of An Armchair, Embroidering von Jean-Antoine Watteau wurde im Juli 2017 in der Auktion Old Master & British Works on Paper bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 143.750,00 (€ 160.402,93) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 120.000,00 – 180.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jean-Antoine Watteau erzielen.
