Upper estimate price exceeded by 52 %.
The work The Virgin And Child After Schedoni by Jean-Antoine Watteau was auctioned at Sothebys in London in July 2014. It achieved a price of GBP 68,500.00 (€ 86,400.04), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 52%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean-Antoine Watteau achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work La Surprise: A couple embracing while a figure dressed as Mezzetin tunes a guitar in July 2008 with an auction result of GBP 12,361,250.00 (€ 15,705,107.29).
