Upper estimate price exceeded by 46 %.
The work Bust Of An Actor Dressed As Pierrot by Jean-Antoine Watteau was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in January 2015. It achieved a price of USD 17,500.00 (€ 15,500.44), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 46%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean-Antoine Watteau achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work La Surprise: A couple embracing while a figure dressed as Mezzetin tunes a guitar in July 2008 with an auction result of GBP 12,361,250.00 (€ 15,705,107.29).
