Auction result misses estimated price range
In January 2015 a collector was able to acquire the work A Monk Wearing A Hood by Jean-Antoine Watteau for USD 46,875.00 (€ 41,519.04). This price was achieved in the auction Old Master Drawings at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean-Antoine Watteau achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work La Surprise: A couple embracing while a figure dressed as Mezzetin tunes a guitar in July 2008 with an auction result of GBP 12,361,250.00 (€ 15,705,107.29).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Januar 2015 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit A Monk Wearing A Hood von Jean-Antoine Watteau für USD 46.875,00 (€ 41.519,04) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Old Master Drawings bei Sothebys in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 60.000,00 – 80.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jean-Antoine Watteau erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit La Surprise: A couple embracing while a figure dressed as Mezzetin tunes a guitar im Juli 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 12.361.250,00 (€ 15.705.107,29).
